1. Exam Duration:
â¢ IELTS: IELTS is conducted over 2 days with 2 hours and 55 minutes with about 20 minutes of mandatory Speaking.
â¢ PTE: PTE is one day and one session examination of about 3 hours.
2. Type of Exam:
â¢ IELTS: IELTS is the pen-paper based examination.
â¢ PTE: PTE is completely a computer-based examination.
3. Structure and Test Pattern:
Both the exams have four mandatory tests which are Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing but differ in some certain context:
â¢ Speaking: In IELTS, the Speaking test is conducted face-to-face by the authorized IELTS Examiner and the assessments are recorded by conducting live conversations to test the speaking ability of the student or immigrant.
Whereas in PTE, there is no live recording of Speech. The speech of the exam taker is recorded via a microphone and the evaluation of speech parameters are examined by the computer-based verified speech software.

5. Slot Availability and Test Dates:
â¢ Exam Slots: IELTS Slots are fixed while PTE Slots are flexible throughout the year.
â¢ Test Dates: For General Purpose, IELTS Exam can be taken twice a month. And, for Academic Purpose, it can be taken 4 times a month. On the other hand, PTE Exam Dates are available throughout the year and the exam can be taken 363 days in the year
